Congresswoman Secures Funding for Community Projects in the 38th District

(Washington D.C.)-  Congresswoman Grace Napolitano (D-Norwalk) announces the House approval today of $8.5 million in funding for the 38th District to provide vital upgrades in ongoing local community projects.  The bill now moves to the Senate and to the President.

          In Transportation:

• $4.2 million for the Alameda Corridor-East (ACE), San Gabriel Valley, Gateway to American Trade Corridor to be used for construction work on railroad and street crossing safety improvements and grade separation. Completion of the project will facilitate the movement of goods from the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach where 40% of the country’s container traffic is handled.
• $3.3 million for the Foothill Transit’s construction of park-and-ride facilities to maximize public funding by encouraging transit use during daytime peak rush hours. This will improve air quality with less vehicular traffic in the San Gabriel and Pomona Valleys of Los Angeles County.
• $800,000 for the City of  Santa Fe Springs/La Mirada Valley View Grade Separation, a project that is a crucial component of a regional strategy to increase rail capacity, improve traffic mobility, eliminate train/vehicular conflicts and improve quality of life for local residents.

“This federal funding is vital to help ease major traffic difficulties, improve public safety, provide jobs, and improve economic viability in our region,” said Congresswoman Napolitano.

HUD-Economic Development Initiative (EDI) Requests

The House approved $200,000 for the 2,000 square feet expansion and renovation of the existing space at the City of Pico Rivera’s Senior Center to accommodate the needs of a growing and more active senior population.   The Center serves more than 6,500 patrons each month.
