Napolitano Statement on the Indictment Against the Vice President’s Chief of Staff

(Washington D.C.)- 38th District Congresswoman Grace F. Napolitano’s  statement today on the five-count  indictment against Lewis “Scooter” Libby, Vice President Cheney’s Chief of Staff, for obstruction of justice, perjury, and making false statements to federal investigators.

“It is sad that some of our highest government officials have become totally focused on power and  have forgotten the true meaning of public service by choosing to ignore the great needs of our country. Today’s indictment of  Mr. Libby and the continuing investigation of Karl Rove, this administration’s top political advisor, is a black mark on President Bush’s campaign promises to bring back honor and dignity to the White House. We are all elected to represent the people. America is tired of political and corporate scandals that bring us shame throughout the world.”
