| (Washington D.C.)- Congresswoman Grace F. Napolitano is honored to join the Kiwanis Club and the City of Pomona today as the Grace F. Napolitano Community Center is unveiled during the reopening of the city-owned Kiwanis Park.
“This is a truly humbling honor,” said Napolitano, D-Norwalk. “I am grateful for this tremendous honor and thank the community and the city for this recognition. My job is to continue helping and providing assistance to the community for expansion of programs, and I am thankful for this recognition.”
The community center, located within the renovated park, is the site of after-school programs and will host summer recreational programs. The newly refurbished 5-acre Kiwanis Park features new signage, picnic benches, a kid-friendly playground, enhanced lighting and other amenities for residents.
Kiwanis Club has been key in the park’s evolution, donating money to build it in the 1970s and later sponsoring the first sports court, barbecues and picnic tables. Along with a variety of other public and private sources of funding, Kiwanis Club gave $25,000 during the latest round on renovations.
“I want to recognize and commend Kiwanis Club for its continued hard work in providing a destination where the area’s families can enjoy spending time together,” Napolitano said.
