Secures Funds for 38th District
Congresswoman Grace Flores Napolitano (D-Norwalk)

following district funds have been secured in the recently passed
Omnibus Appropriations bill, HR 4818.
·
POMONA
$1,250,000 for Route 71 Expressway Grade
Separation Project: For construction of a
four-lane overpass for Mission Blvd. over the existing four-lane Route
71 Expressway, entrance and exit ramps between the two corridors.
$250,000 for Police Communications System
Upgrade: To make essential technology improvements that will
eliminate communication lapses and “dead zones” which currently hamper
police operations and timely response to emergencies.
$140,000 for La Casita After School Program:
To support after school programs utilizing community center facilities
to provide high-risk teenagers with positive and intensive educational
programs, along with recreational activities aimed at reducing gang
violence, vandalism and related problems.
·
MONTEBELLO
$250,000 for the Police Department:
To replace and upgrade the Police
Department’s Computer Aided Dispatch and Records Management System (CAD/RMS).
·
NORWALK
$410,000 for Transmission Main: For
planning and construction to upgrade the City’s water facilities and

inadequate storage limits the City’s fire suppression capability.
$150,000 for Teen Alliance Program (TAP):
To expand TAP activities and serve more teens. This City-run
after-school program is open to all teens in the City and has an active
membership of over 300 participants. TAP provides a safe, fun and
enriching alternative to gang involvement and other delinquent
activities.
·
PICO RIVERA/LA PUENTE/SANTA FE SPRINGS
$500,000 for Pacific Clinics Adolescent
Suicide Prevention Program: To provide a variety of
school-based mental health services to middle and high school youth.
Although primarily focused on suicide prevention, the program also works
with any teen needing help to deal effectively with depression, low self
esteem, anorexia, substance abuse and other related conditions. The
program serves students at Los Alisos Middle School in Norwalk, North
Park Middle School in Pico Rivera, Lake Center Middle School in Santa Fe
Springs, and Bassett High School in La Puente.
·

$1 million for MTOC Coalition Bus Lines
(Cities of Montebello, Norwalk, Commerce, Culver City, Gardena, Santa
Monica and Torrance): To fund the replacement of buses that are
at the end of their useful life (more than 12 years old), with ADA
accessible and cleaner fuel buses; replace diesel-fueled buses with
alternative fuel (CNG and electric) and cleaner-burning diesel buses;
expand service in high demand areas of four operators’ systems; and
construct compressed natural gas fueling facilities and additional bus
facilities.
$2 million for Alameda Corridor East (ACE)
Phase II Plan: To implement a comprehensive corridor
improvement program that will address both existing and anticipated
safety and mobility issues at a total of 55 grade crossings along a
35-mile corridor through San Gabriel Valley from East Los Angeles to
